5 Essentials For Proper Bowel Function and Elimination

5 Essentials For Proper Bowel Function And Elimination

With the holidays upon us, many of you have been asking our advice on how to keep everything moving properly.  So before you reach out to buy one of our colon cleanses, first try these.  (Not listed in order of importance)

1.     Adequate sodium.  Here we are not talking about table salt, or the sodium found in packaged foods.  For proper muscle contraction and movement your bowel needs ¼ to ½ teaspoon of Premier Pink Salt (or another high mineral, high quality salt) each day.

2.     Sufficient Fiber.  Fruits, nuts and whole grains act like a broom, cleaning out your colon.  They make stools softer and easier to pass, thereby reducing straining and hemorrhoids.

3.     Hydration.  You should drink half your body weight in ounces of water each day.  So if you weigh 100lbs, you would require 50 ounces or about a liter and a half.  You will need to drink more water if you have had any of the following de-hydrating beverages – alcohol, coffee, soda or if you have been sweating a lot from heat or exercise.

4.     Digestive enzymes.  The enzymes naturally found in foods are commonly killed off by cooking and high heats.  Consume raw foods high in enzymes, such as pineapple, papaya, fermented vegetables and bananas.  Whenever you eat a cooked meal, it is important to supplement with some digestive enzymes to help your body break down the particles more easily.  We like Premier Quantum Digest.

5.     Probiotics.  There are good bacteria and bad bacteria.  Both continually exist on and in our bodies.  Your colon should be filled with beneficial bacteria.  Antibiotics, stress and improper nutrition can reduce your levels of these internal probiotics.  We recommend supplementing with our 11-strain probiotic capsule from Innate Choice and consuming fermented vegetables such as raw kimchee, raw sauerkraut or raw pickles with every meal.
