7 Factors of Heart Health
These seven factors- if you can keep them ideal or control them- end up being the fountain of youth for your heart. You live longer, you live healthier longer, you have much better quality of life in older age, require less medication, less medical care.
Specifically, those with ideal cardiovascular health can answer yes to the following seven questions:
2. Body mass index less than 25
3. Get at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise each week (that's 30 minutes 5x week)
4. Meet these dietary recommendations:
- Eat Whole, unprocessed foods
- 60-80% of your plate should be fresh vegetables in salads or lightly steamed. Also include plenty of fresh fruits- preferably organic
- Do not eat commercially processed foods such as cookies, cakes, crackers, TV dinners, soft drinks, packaged sauce mixes, etc. READ LABELS!
- Avoid all refined sweeteners such as sugar, dextrose, glucose, high fructose, corn syrup and fruit juices.
- Avoid white flour, white flour products and white rice.
- Avoid all trans fats, hydrogenated and partially hyrogenated fats and oils.
- Check out our recipe section under Wellness Center
- Note: High cholesterol does not cause heart disease, rather it is a sign of it. Covering it up with Statin drugs is not a good idea.
7. Fasting blood glucose less than 100.
